Smooth, sweet coffee with an AeroPress

The AeroPress makes a smooth, low-acidity cup in under two minutes: 15g coffee to 230g water at a gentle 85°C, a short bloom, a steep, then a slow press. Forgiving, travel-friendly, and hard to get wrong.

Dial it in

Start at a medium-fine grind. Then let the cup tell you: if it runs too fast and tastes weak or sour, grind finer. If it stalls and turns harsh or bitter, grind coarser. Change one thing at a time and re-taste.

Common questions

What grind size for an AeroPress?+

Medium-fine, similar to a V60. Finer gives a stronger, slower press; coarser is faster and lighter. Adjust to taste.

Should I use the inverted method?+

You don’t need to. The standard upright method here is simpler and just as clean. Inverted only helps if you want a longer, unrestricted steep.
